9th March 1991. AIDS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY.
The campaign was created by Derby’s Aids Liaison Unit. It included 4,000 leaflets for doctors and health centres with details of a freephone advice number and where to access free condoms. It was launched on IWD at Peartree Junior School in Derby. View the full newspaper report.

The paper published a full page of articles about IWD. One of the articles read’Cast off the lady chains. Rip off the liberty bodice and scream…today marks International Women’s Day’. View the newspaper reports.
Late 1990s/2000. DERBY CITY COUNCIL & DERBY WOMEN’S ADVISORY COMMITTEE (LATER THE GENDER DIVERSITY FORUM) START ORGANISING DERBY IWD.
The committee created a Derby city event (previous events had been organised by Derbyshire County Counci) and invited men to the event (previous events had been women only). Listen to Ann Webster (Derby City Council) talk about these changes.
4th March 1999. DERBY IWD ARTS EXHIBITION.
Venue: Copecastle Square, Eagle Centre, Derby.
Organisers: Equalities Unit Derby City Council.
This exhibition included poetry and photography. The theme was ‘Derby Women of the ’90s’.
